Accountability
‘Create, Connect - Blog’ is fun and highly curriculum driven. The curriculum says learning needs to be relevant, meaningful and sustainable.
In South Australia we use the SACSA Framework
(South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability)
http://www.sacsa.sa.edu.au/index_fsrc.asp?t=HOME
This event caters for …
the Early Years, Primary Years and Middle Years (Bands)
For a focus I’ve chosen ‘Health and Physical Education’ (Learning Area) specifically ‘Personal and Social Development’ (Learning Strand)
The Standards and Outcomes change and develop according to the Bands - Early/Primary/Middle Years.
This event caters for Standards 1 to 5 - Reception to about Year 9.
For an example here is Standard 1 - Early Years
(Approx Year 1 or 5 Year olds)
Children develop an understanding of what is required to live together, communicate with others both personally and virtually and share feelings and ideas as they experience relationships and make friends.
Click here (new page) for the standards and suitability for other year levels.
Here is the page on the SACSA website - click your year level at the top
We also consider the Essential Learnings
This event focusses on Futures, Independence, Identity and Communication - but all ELs can be woven into this event and blogging generally.
The Key Competencies for this event are primarily KC1 (Collecting, analysing and organising information) and KC2 (Communicating ideas and information) but all KCs can be relevant when working with blogs in this way.
*** Of course the SACSA framework allows us to weave our programmes to best suit the individual student’s personal learning needs. Equally class learning can encompass anything. Please be mindful of accountability ***
I model here (new page) how to account for building the concept of ‘Artistic Representation’ of ‘Create, Connect - Blog’ into student learning.
